Dancing in the Street
ODC 50+ Anniversary Summer Block Party

Sunday, July 31, 2022 | 12 - 4 PM
ODC Campus | Shotwell & 17th St

ODC invites neighbors from our Mission District home and members of the Bay Area dance and movement communities to join us in celebrating ODC's 50+ anniversary at a festive block party on Sunday, July 31st from 12 - 4 pm, concluding ODC’s Summer Sampler season at ODC Theater. The day will feature a free performance of KT Nelson’s ‘truly miraculous’ Path of Miracles by ODC/Dance, as well as works by our youth and teen program and dance artists affiliated with the ODC Theater such as Kinetech Arts and ODC Home Companies Chitresh Das Institute and RAWdance.  Come sample a range of our ongoing dance and fitness classes, suited to all abilities and ages, individuals and whole families. Meet and experience the food and drink of our neighborhood vendors and learn about services provided by fellow organizations and businesses that also call the area around 17th and Shotwell home. The afternoon’s activities are designed as an informal, participatory and welcoming afternoon for all.

“ODC is a neighborhood gem, an international organization with deep roots in our community. ODC is home to creativity and artistry. It is a place of joy and innovation; a place to venture out, and embrace the unexpected. That’s what great art does.”
- Laurene Powell Jobs

“ODC is a national treasure we can claim as our own. For over 50 years, through pandemics, earthquakes, recessions and droughts, ODC’s resilient artistic magic continues to inspire and thrill us.

Great talent alone does not sustain a community nonprofit. The combination and collaboration of performers, audience, determination and leadership allow for the dancers’ gravity-defying grace and brilliance to soar. We are indebted to and blessed by all that ODC continues to create.”

- Mark Leno

ODC thanks Laurene Powell Jobs and Mark Leno for serving as Honorary Co-Hosts for this celebratory day.
