The ODC School Audition Series brings dancers and choreographers together in a class context. Dancers may use class cards or pay a $14 drop in fee ($1 cash discount). Come early to fill out audition forms and bring a resume & headshot.

Sambaxé is seeking friendly, positive & professional dancers for the upcoming show, Spirit of Brazil, a joint production between Abadá Capoeira and Sambaxé Dance Company. It will be a 1 hour (no intermission) music and dance production held at the ODC Theater on Oct 18, 19, 20, & 21. The audition will include learning a couple choreographies as well as a chance to perform a short solo. Please be prepared to freestyle to live percussion music.
Sambaxé is a Brazilian inspired dance company. Their mission is to create a fun and safe environment to explore Brazilian dance, music and culture both in the classes and on the stage. In Brazilian culture, Axé means life force/energy. Sambaxé’s tagline is “Dance is a celebration of Life..” Sambaxé is a full force, energetic group of dancers that perform many styles of Brazilian dance including Samba No Pé from Rio de Janeiro), Samba Reggae, Samba Axé, Maculelé, Samba Malandro, Afoxe, and Frevo. They also offer multi-level dance classes and workshops both nationally and internationally.
Requirements include the following:
- Attending 2 rehearsals per week beginning Aug 19
- Availability for all performances during Oct 18-21
- Attending 1 Sambaxé dance class per week
- Must have performed on a stage and a live audience
- Retaining choreography
**Brazilian dance experience preferable but not necessary
If a dancer is interested in joining the professional performing group, a 1 year commitment is required including attending 1 company rehearsal and 1 dance class per week and be available to perform at least once a month. Performances for the production are unpaid and are chance to be part of a full length production.
