Anna and The Annadroids are looking for 4 to 6 experienced female dancers with strong technique in modern and urban dance forms (jazz, hip hop, fusion). Dancers need a good deal of upper body strength to execute intricate ground work, inversions, and acrobatics as well as wide range of flexibility. No aerial experience necessary. Dancers must be comfortable embodying the Annadroid character, which emanates the extremes of human emotions. The Annadroid is a beautiful and sensual being with a physical and emotional intensity that could tear down a brick wall. Anna and The Annadroids: Man(u)fractured is an intriguing multi-media dance and aerial theater production that is scheduled to premiere at San Francisco's Dance Mission Theater November 16-18 2012. Man(u)fractured is a state of being, a place, an object, and a (de)illusion all in one oddly wrapped package. The show will feature living mannequins, psychologically twisted dolls, and quirky robot girls who perform innovative dance on the ground and in the air in conjunction with cutting edge video technologies. Rehearsals will start in June. Performances will be PAID.
Anna Sullivan is the Artistic Director and choreographer of the surreal multi-media dance and aerial theater troupe, Anna and The Annadroids. Anna received her Bachelor of Specialized Studies from Ohio University in dance and choreography in 2003 and immediately went into the world and started creating, what she calls, pop surrealist dance theater. In 2004, she started a dance project called Anatomical Scenario and out of this project her signature characters Anna and The Annadroids were born. Since then, Anna has produced eleven evening dance concerts, created work for countless special events, had her work produced at the New York International Fringe Festival three times (2006, 2007, 2011), received multiple project grants from the Greater Columbus Arts Council and Ohio Arts Council, and in 2008, received The Greater Columbus Arts Council's Artistic Excellence Award of $10,000 for her production, Anna and The Annadroids: Clone Zone. In 2011, Anna moved to San Francisco where she plans to continue her life journey as a dancer, choreographer, and artistic visionary.
