Choreographer Todd Eckert is seeking male and female dancers to participate in his next performance season, working in the studio to create two new pieces for the 5th anniversary of Shared Space, Feb 27 – Mar 4, 2012 at Dance Mission Theater. Rehearsals are Fridays and Saturdays from 12- 4pm, and dancers are offered a modest monthly stipend for rehearsals and weekly fee for performances.
Todd is specifically looking for technically skilled dancers who enjoy movement invention and creative problem solving. Intellectual challenges, puzzles and physical experiments often characterize the rehearsal process, as we work to generate a unique movement language for each piece. For more information, visit www.sharedspacesf.org.
Todd Eckert presents energetic dance concerts which highlight the form and musicality of bodies in space, showcase the artistry of highly skilled dancers, and explore the landscapes of the human condition through movement metaphor. Todd has been working in the dance community of San Francisco since 1999. For ten years, he was a member of Robert Moses’ Kin, performing annually in San Francisco and on tour, and he has been teaching contemporary dance to teens and adults at the ODC Dance Commons since 2004. He has been presenting his own choreography since 2003, and in 2007, he began producing his own work in the Shared Space series, which he founded with his colleague Nol Simonse. Todd has also taught on the faculty of the UC Berkeley Dance Department, and recently completed a commission at Stanford University.
