Malleable Dance Theater is searching for 4-6 professional artists to join the company. They are looking for intelligent, physically adept performers who are interested in collaborative, interdisciplinary work. A theatrical background is helpful, but not required. An open attitude and a sincere interest in a deep artistic process are necessary. Rehearsals are Monday–Thursday from 2-5pm, and they welcome attendance at rehearsal anywhere from 1-4 times per week. Performance stipends are available. This year, Malleable Dance Theater will be developing two projects:

  • Alsomitra, a theatrical movement piece dealing with unemployment and pregnancy. For this, they are searching for one man and one pregnant woman (due between Jan and early Mar 2012). Theatrical performers adept with irony are needed. Rehearsals will begin immediately, taking place from late July through early Dec 2011. Showings will take place in early Oct and early Dec.

  • Murakami Hotel, a new cinematically-oriented piece based on the work of Japanese author Haruki Murakami. The process will consist in part of physical response to a pre-conceived multimedia environment and character development extending out of movement. This will be an artistically rigorous, 2-3 year process with performances taking place both in a theatrical performance space and in  site-specific locations in SF and NYC. A long-term commitment is preferred. Rehearsals will begin in Oct 2011.

She holds a BFA in Dance and French from Western Michigan University and continued her dance studies at the Centre Choregraphique National de Montpellier in France for one year.
