Sara Shelton Mann | Improvisation and Touch

This workshop will explore scores, scenarios and the science of dreaming using physical language as a script. Participants will work on performance, as an investigation of skill and presence, and touch as an intimate layer of conversation. The workshop will include a rigorous chi warm-up to strengthen and develop physical attention and consciousness, and writing to stretch imaginative muscles and create context for communication through script and movement. Bring creativity and notebooks.
Sara Shelton Mann has 45 years of research in improvisational teaching methods that have created companies, a body of work that spans international collaborations for stage, site- specific arenas, galleries and outdoor industrial sites. Her awards range from a Guggenheim Fellowship, Gerbode Collaboration Award, 4 Isadora Duncan Awards to funding by the NEA,SFAC, SFF, Zellerbach Family Fund and Ca$h. She also acknowledges Djerassi Artist in Residence Program as a partner in her artistic development through the gift of time.
