As part of a new collaboration with CALI & CO dance/Christine Cali & the Family Crest, Christine will be choreographing several videos for the band, one of which will be shot in July with additional videos in the fall 2011. She’s looking for 20 modern/ballet dancers interested in dancing in the video. Non-paid but credit on a video that will be pitched to MTV. The Family Crest have really taken off and recently played to 1,500 people at the Fox in Oakland! Check them out here if you haven't heard them live yet - thefamilycrestfamily.com.
CALI & CO dance is also searching for 4 dancers/performers (female/male) to join the Fitted for Solitude project, a new work that will be performed in various locations throughout the Bay beginning as a work in progress showing in July 2011, an AIR performance at The Garage (Mar 2012), additional performances along the way leading to a 40 minute work that will be presented at ODC Theater as part of SPF6 (sixth annual summer performance festival) co-produced by The Garage and ODC. Stipend for performances.
As a dance-based artist, Christine Cali is interested in creating works that are poignant and revelatory; works that (de)construct social norms and openly challenge constructs of gender, race and class. Meshing form/technique with improvisation; precision with complete abandon; motion with words; body with technology; live music/lyrics with the ephemeral body; I guide my dances and dancers into a present, mindful, articulate and daring state within our craft. Live music has been the way for Cali having collaborated on two evening length works in the past 2 years, MOVE THRU ME with Local SF Band The WELCOME MATT (Dance Mission Feb 2011) and Trajectory with Tim Frick/Parts for People (ODC Jan 2010).
