The ODC School Audition Series brings dancers and choreographers together in a class context. Dancers may use class cards or pay a $14 drop in fee ($1 cash discount). Please come early to fill out information forms and bring your resume, if you have one.

Facing East Dance & Music (FEDM) in conjunction with nina haft & company (nh&co) seek up to two female and two male dancers for a shared evening of new, multimedia work in March 2012 at the newly renovated ODC Theater. Both companies are looking for experienced performers with strong contemporary dance technique, dance theater and partnering skills. Must be able to rehearse in the East Bay, with most rehearsals occurring weekday evenings (1-3x/wk) with some days and weekends as needed. Rehearsals begin this summer 2011—dates TBA. There is a rehearsal stipend plus performance fee.
Facing East Dance & Music celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2009! The company, directed by Sue Li Jue has toured nationally and internationally, with shows in Bay Area theaters and festivals, and a bevy of site-specific venues. FEDM’s work explores the intricacies of the Asian American and female experience through contemporary dance and collaborations with artists in music and visual design. Celebrated for their incisive works of cultural commentary, nina haft & company is also known for the Dance In Unexpected Places Series, presenting dances in dockyards, circus tents, parking lots, cemeteries and other liminal spaces. Haft has been profiled in Dance Magazine, and supported by the Djerassi Resident Artist Program, Margaret Jenkins’ CHIME, California Arts Council and CA$H, among other funders. Back from recent tours to NYC and the Middle East, NH&Co. looks forward to collaborating with local writer Britta Austin and a stellar team of collaborators on this exciting new work.
