Audition Series: Robert Henry Johnson Dance Company.Sunday, March 133:30-5:30pm$12 or Class CardRobert Henry Johnson Dance Company is looking for 4 male dancers and 4 female dancers well versed in ballet and/or modern with flexible range to incorporate, learn and explore other styles. Dancers should have strong choreographic sensibilities and excellent memory skills.Performance dates: Two weeks in December 2011, 6-8 shows (all evenings), some payRehearsal period: April-May, August-September, November-December, rehearsal pay negotiable.The ODC School Audition Series brings dancers and choreographers together in a class context. Dancers may use class cards or pay a $12 drop in fee. Please come early to fill out information forms and bring your resume, if you have one.Robert Henry Johnson Dance Company was founded in 1993. The company merges spoken word, contemporary ballet, modern and African movement in an attempt to create a bridge between the fine arts and pop culture. The company has over 39 pieces in its repertoire and produces one season a year and has performed and traveled throughout the state of California, Texas, Oregon and New York. Resident choreographer Robert Henry Johnson encourages each company member to contribute choreographically in the crafting of new work and world premieres.Robert Henry Johnson, a native San Franciscan, is a member of the first graduating class of San Francisco’s School of the Arts. He studied as a full scholarship student at San Francisco Ballet School, and has danced with Oakland Ballet, ODC/San Francisco, Los Angeles Opera, Santa Fe Opera and Bayerisches Staatsballett. In 1993, he formed the Robert Henry Johnson Dance Company which performed to local and national critical acclaim. He is the recipient of numerous awards for his solo performances and choreography.
