Philein Wang/ZiRu Productions, a multi-disciplinary dance company based in the Bay Area, is looking for 3 female and 2 male dancers for our 2011 season. The company focuses on cross-cultural collaborations among Chinese and Chinese-American artists, using dance as our centerpiece. We aim to build a cultural bridge between China and performing artists of all cultural backgrounds. Artistic Director Philein Wang's dynamic style fuses modern dance, ballet, and martial arts. Dancers should have strong modern and/or ballet technique. Experience in martial arts and/or hip hop is a plus. We will begin rehearsals in March and will perform in May and June in San Francisco/Peninsula and New York City. Philein Wang/ZiRuProductions travels to China to perform company repertoire once a year. Stipend pay for rehearsals and performances.
Philein Wang/ZiRu Productions actively addresses the question of cultural identity in today's hybridized society through a variety of mediums including dance, poetry, painting, photography, and musical composition. The ODC School Audition Series brings dancers and choreographers together in a class context. Dancers may use class cards or pay a $12 drop in fee. Please come early to fill out information forms and bring your resume, if you have one.
